Hohenzollern and Lichtenstein

Today, we took my parents to see two of Germany's most famous castles.... Hohenzollern and Lichtenstein.  It was an easy day trip.  Each castle is located about an hour south of Stuttgart and only 45 minutes from each other.  We started the day at Hohenzollern.

View of the castle as we approached in the car.

Entering the castle grounds.

Still entering the castle grounds!

Checking things out before our tour.

Guards on duty.

The ladies.

In the castle courtyard.  This castle was just too big to get in one shot!

Dad and Greg wait for the tour to begin.

Mom was excited to see that there was still some snow left.

We all had to wear these "house" shoes during the tour.

They had these capes for the kids to wear while on the tour.

No pics allowed inside.  Shhhh!

Sneaking another shot.

Leena investigates the casemates below the castle.

Cool!

Next stop.... Lichtenstein!  If only it were 20 degrees warmer!!  It was in the 30's and sooo cold!
Mimi and Leena entering the castle grounds.

A cute house next to the castle.

Happy Easter!

On the bridge entering the castle.

The view of the town below from the castle bridge.

The tours were only in German, but we got information about the castle written in English.

Leena stands next to armour that was worn by 12-14 year old boys way back in the day.

No pictures allowed here either!

The view of Lictenstein Castle.  Insane how it's built waaay up on the cliff!
